The Midlands User Group (MUG) will next meet on Saturday, 17th November, and their guest speaker will be Tony Bartram of AMCOG Games.
Tony only became a RISC OS user a few years ago, released his first game for the platform in 2015. Since then he has built up quite a catalogue of titles, covering several different genres, with the latest addition being a top-down racing game called Stunt Drivers.
From simple maze games like Mutant Penguin, to a 3D FPS called Island of the Undead, all of them are written in BBC BASIC, the programming language that comes built into RISC OS, and Tony has even published a Development Kit to make it easier for others to write their own games.
He will be talking to the group meeting about the development techniques used within his various titles, as well as the Development Kit, and how others may benefit.

There is a small entrance fee to cover costs, and refreshments will be available.
The hall is about two miles from junction one of the M42 – westbound only – taking the B4096 until you take a left at the mini-roundabout at the foot of Greenhill.
If your route involves the M5, it’s best to come off either at junction 5 and head up the A38, or further up at junction 4 and take the southbound A38 – but don’t join the M42 in the hope of exiting at junction 1! In both cases, you can get onto the B4096 when the A38 reaches that junction, or (if you came off at junction 5) cut onto it via Old Burcot Lane or further up via School Lane.
